Hilton Head Island:Located along the Eastern Seaboard, Hilton Head Island is just North of Savannah, Georgia, and close to the southernmost point of South Carolina. This barrier island is 12 miles long and five miles wide, and is blessed with incredible natural beauty, lovely salt marshes, and stunning beaches. The Island has world-class residential communities, championship golf and tennis, fine dining, varied entertainment possibilities, and an incomparable array of quality shopping. Bluffton Area:The Bluffton Area, which is located on the mainland, before the bridges to Hilton Head Island, has experienced unprecedented residential and commercial growth in recent years. The original town, which is perched on a bluff, overlooks the May River. The downtown area is quaint, with old fashioned charm and grace. Meanwhile, a number of residential communities have grown up in close proximity to the downtown area. The active commercial areas feature entertainment, a wide choice of dining possibilities, and a variety of shops and businesses. Beyond Bluffton:Much of the residential and commercial growth in the years to come is expected to be in the area Beyond Bluffton in Southern Beaufort and Jasper Counties. New residential communities, hotels, a medical center, and shopping areas have already started to spring up. Much of this area adjoins highway 278 between Bluffton and I-95, and follows Highway 170 going North toward Beaufort. This area includes Oakatie area, and Callawassie and Spring Islands. New Developments:New Developments are located out of the other more defined areas, but will have a definite impact on the future growth of the Hilton Head Island area. Many of these developments are just in the planning or early sales stages, and will provide many of the homes for new residents in the Hilton Head Island region for many years to come. Daufuskie Island:Lying adjacent to the Intracoastal Waterway, Daufuskie Island is a short boat ride across Calibogue Sound from Harbor Town in Sea Pines. No vehicles are permitted on the island, except golf carts, and access is by ferry only. This limited access has created an island of natural beauty and pristine forests. Amidst this beauty are private communities with golf courses, swimming pools, and lovely untouched beaches, as well as raw land and homesites in pristine condition.
